Gap Year Crew
2025 - 2026

Complete this form to be added to JQY's Gap Year group for JQYers attending Israel gap year programs during the 2025 - 2026 academic year.

As part of the JQY Gap year group you will have access to:

- Monthly activity meet-ups in partnership with Havruta

- Gap Year WhatsApp chat

- Access to JQY microgrants to plan your own Jewish Queer events in Israel

- AnyQueer in Israel - a resource designed to provide gap-year students with a list of queer and ally shabbat hosts. Students can reach out to pre-vetted hosts and experience Shabbat in Israel in a safe and accepting environment.

Start typing the name of your gap year program. If it doesn't appear, please enter "Other Gap Year Program." When you meet with a JQY staff person, please tell them the name of your program and we'll add it to the list.

This is a safe space. There is no room in this space for non-consensual physical contact, sexual misconduct, harassment, bullying, or violence. Anyone who harms or threatens to harm a person in this space will be removed from the group.

This is a confidential space. By being in this group you agree to protect the confidentiality of all others in attendance by not sharing their identities or other information about them outside of this space.

Please note that because Israel Chat 2024 - 2025 is a WhatsApp group, the phone number you use for WhatsApp will be visible to all members of the group.

This is an inclusive space. You don’t need to label yourself to be part of this WhatsApp group. You belong here if you feel you belong here. Because our community is so diverse with regard to identities (sexual, gender, religious, etc.), beliefs, and experiences, please get to know people instead of making assumptions about them.

This is a respectful space. By being in this space, you agree to be mindful of the feelings of others when interacting with others.

This is a place where names and pronouns are honored. If you make a mistake and someone corrects you, thank them, correct yourself, and move on.

Everyone in this space is committed to keeping it a safe space. Anyone who fails to honor the Safe Space Standards may be removed from the group and/or prevented from participating in future JQY programming and/or events.

If you feel uncomfortable in any JQY space for any reason, or believe a person is not honoring the Safe Space Standards, please let us know by emailing to safespace@jqy.org. That email will be received by the Executive Director and Clinical Director.

If your concern relates to the Executive Director or Clinical Director, please email Board Member, Shimmy Feintuch, LCSW, at safespace_boardmember@jqy.org.
